Of course! And then the new characters will mysteriously be spoiling quest-related events before you even do it! Or there'll be quests that you can never complete because the characters are mysteriously invisible!

Indeed. I would appreciate not clipping my way into the skybox every time I walk into a crate/piece of scenery when ME3 comes around >:(

Well, the great thing about Vanguard is that sometimes you can use Charge to get back down
